The Danville Half Marathon will again be part of the River District Festival. This event will be directed by the Danville Running & Fitness Club with a new flat and fast course that includes streets and the Riverwalk Trail. Also there will be an earlier starting time (8 a.m.) and chip timing by the Brick. It will feature custom finishers medals plus trophies to first 3 overall, first 3 in each age group starting with 0-14 and then every 5 years to 70 and over, and first overall male and female masters (40 and over).
The Knights of Columbus present the Danville Wine Festival at the Community Market each April for adults 21 and older. It features products of Virginia wineries, live music, food, crafts, and more! All proceeds go to charity.
The Dirty Dan Dash, presented by Danville Regional Medical Center, is a 3.7-mile dash through Danville's River District, Dan Daniel Memorial Park, and along the Riverwalk trail. The course features various obstacles, challenges, and one nasty mud pit.

The winter farmers’ market offers baked goods, crafts, eggs, meats, coffee, jellies, jams, salsa, wine, nuts, personal care products and other items normally found at the market, along with seasonal produce that is still available, such as greens. The winter farmers' market will operate every January to March (10AM to 2PM)
